Hanahan Health Centre gets facelift

Hanahan Health Centre in the Halia Constituency of North Bougainville has received a boost with its renovations, an admitted patient kitchen and a staff house kitchen at the cost of K150,000.

Officially opened this week, the people can now access health services at a conducive atmosphere.

The infrastructures received a K50,000 funding from the Halia Constituency Development Grant by the Member and Autonomous Bougainville Government [ABG] Vice President, Patrick Nisira with support funding of K75,000 from the North Bougainville MP, Francesca Semoso.

The Department of Health assisted with two 5,000-liter water tanks.

Halia Constituency health sector includes, the Hanahan Health Centre, Banis, Tohatsi and Busbin Aid post in which the Constituency Member and Vice President Patrick Nisira plans to improve.

Plans are already in place for a fence for the Hanahan Health Centre area and construction of another staff house by the end of the year or early next year, which a K150,000.00 funding has been budgeted already, including construction of a proper cement drain for the health centre.

Tohatsi aid post will also be seeing a new K150, 000.00 staff house, new aid post building for Hanahana Health Center, while the Banis aid post will also be fenced.

Vice President Patrick Nisira says, for this to eventuate he will continue to seek the support of the National MP for North Bougainville and the ABG Health Department.

Patrick Nisira says, the health of the people was very important as Bougainville needs a healthy population moving towards nationhood.

Meantime, National Member for North Bougainville, Francesca Semoso pledged an additional K1 million for the extension of the health facility.

The ABG Health Secretary, Clement Totavun pledged his department’s commitment to the Hanahan Health Centre by providing fencing for the facility.
