Marape announces minor cabinet reshuffle

Member for Kairuku Peter Isoaimo was sworn in at Government House this afternoon as Minister for Energy.
He takes over from Kerema MP Thomas Opa, who has now moved to take on the Finance Ministry.
Wapenamanda MP Miki Kaeok will now assume the Transport Ministry, which was left vacant by Walter Schnaubelt, who took up the Governor's seat in New Ireland Province, after the passing of Late Sir Julius Chan.
Speaking after the formalities, Prime Minister James Marape says the changes were made after assessing their performance.
"These appointments were based on merit, regional balance, and stability," Marape said.
The swearing in was officiated by Governor General Sir Bob Dadae and was witnessed by family and friends of the Ministers and the Prime Minister.
