Simbu museum: A cultural hub for the province

There is a strong case for the Simbu Museum of Natural Resources, History and Archives to be used as a culture knowledge hub in the province.
Erick Sinebare, director of the Simbu Museum, believes every province should have its own museum to promote democratic culture and support development in PNG.
Mr. Sinebare said it took years to keep the Simbu Museum going despite funding and facility challenges. He thanked the Simbu provincial government for officially recognizing it as the Simbu Museum of Natural Resources, History, and Archives.
"No museum can claim to provide a complete picture. The lessons we can learn from past events, wonders, and tragedies are priceless, "he said.
Mr. Sinebare said museums can help guide us in uncertain times by dealing with important issues and helping us understand the future.
"Simbu museum can provide a sense of community and place by celebrating a collective heritage, offering a great way to learn about the history of Simbu", he said.
He said the importance of the museum lies not just in preserving the past, but in shaping our understanding of the present and inspiring the possibilities of tomorrow.
