Venue change announcement: round 4 Digicel ExxonMobil cup match

The Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition [PNG NRLC] has announced a venue change for the round 4 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup match between KMHL Enga Mioks and Kroton Hela Wigmen.
The Sunday game was initially scheduled to take place at Aipus Oval in Wabag, Enga Province, but the match will now be held at Jonah Amban Oval in Minj, Jiwaka Province.
The decision to relocate the match follows persistent rainfall in Wabag, which has deteriorated field conditions at Aipus Oval, rendering it unfit to safely host the game.
PNG NRLC, in close consultation with the host club KMHL Enga Mioks, made this decision in the best interest of player safety and the integrity of the match.
“This is a short-term measure, and we are confident that matches will return to Aipus Oval. We are working closely with KMHL Enga Mioks to assess and improve the condition of the field,” PNG NRLC management said.
The venue change also sets the stage for a double-header at Jonah Amban Oval in Minj on Saturday, featuring the first game between the 2023 premiers Mioks and last year’s grand finalist runners up Wigmen.
The main game on Saturday will be staged between current Digicel ExxonMobil Cup champions in Wamp Nga Mt. Hagen Eagles and the Gas Resources Central Dabaris.
The reigning premiers will look to extend their winning streak at home against the red-hot Central Dabaris.
Meanwhile, PNG NRLC thanks all stakeholders, teams, and fans for their understanding and continued support.
