Former Barramundis star nominates for Kira Kira council member seat – driven by commitment to community

Former PNG Barramundis representative Pastor Babani Harry nominated for the Kira Kira Council Member seat in the Motu Koita Assembly elections today at the Boroko Electoral Commission Office.

Pastor Harry’s nomination follows a life dedicated to serving others, marked by significant achievements in sports, spiritual leadership, and community development.

“I am committed to bringing my diverse experiences to serve the people of Kira Kira and contribute to the betterment of the Motu Koita Assembly,” said Pastor Harry.

From his early days playing cricket in Kirakira village to representing Papua New Guinea in international competitions, Pastor Harry has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to excellence and service. His cricket career highlights include representing PNG at the Mini World Cup in England and earning a professional contract offer.

Two out of three National Records that Harry has set are still yet to be broken according to records from ICC.

In 1994, Harry experienced a spiritual awakening that led him to pursue theological studies and a life of ministry. He served as a pastor, community advocate, and played a key role in initiatives focused on improving access to clean water and sanitation.

Recently, Harry served as a director on different Boards, like the National Broadcasting Corporation, Butuka Academy School, and Child Evangelism Fellowship, etc.

Driven by a passion for education, Pastor Harry and his wife founded an elementary school in Kira Kira to address literacy challenges and provide a strong foundation for young learners.

Being an advocate for Business and self-sustainability, Harry also has a printing shop and a construction company that helps bring services to the Port Moresby South communities.

Pastor Harry’s decision to run for the Kira Kira Council Member seat is rooted in his deep connection to the community and his desire to build upon his legacy of service.

He emphasized the importance of family, hard work, and perseverance.
