Issue of Writs for the long delayed nationwide Local Level Government Elections is set to be signed off by the office of the Governor General today, but the uncertainty of monetary funding from the PNG Electoral Commission to the provinces is the hanging question.

But a provincial government in the Highlands Region, had already made a commitment to financially support the running of the LLG Elections.

The Jiwaka Provincial Administrator Rick Kogen during the launching of the two new LLGs for Anglimp South Waghi Electorate on Tuesday made known the provincial government’s commitment to allocate K400, 000 each to the three electorates of Jimi, North Waghi and Anglimp South Waghi to assist the LLG election committees to deliver a successful 2025 LLG Election in the province.

Mr. Kogen explains that the K1.2 million is set aside from the K12 million internal revenue generated by the province last year.

He further praised the leadership of Jiwaka Governor Simon Kaiwi which resulted with the province recording a historic K12 million internal revenue in 2024, a big jump from the previous year revenue collection of K2.9 million.

Meanwhile, Correctional Services Minister and Anglimp South Waghi MP Joe Kuli also pledged K100, 000 and will pay the nomination fees for the 37 current councilors in his electorate.
