Policewomen and policemen's wives and daughters from the National Capital District and Central Provincial Commands will undergo free medical checks for breast cancer by the Chinese Embassy.

This is an initiative from the new commander of NCD/Central Police Command Benjamin Turi.

Resuming official duties this week, Commander Turi negotiated for this initiative.

He said police officers are always busy with work and spend less time with their families to visit hospitals to do checkups. He said that since the Chinese medical team had come forward to help, he wanted all to submit names as soon as possible.

“For those outside of the city, we will discuss that and see how best we can reach out to you all. This is a start, and we will continue. I want all police station commanders to go through your manpower list and provide names for the females who will come for the testing.

“We must think about our female colleagues, our wives, mothers and daughters. Cancer is a killer disease, so the earlier, the better,” Mr. Turi said.
