9th Aviation safety and security conference underway

The 9th PNG Aviation Safety and Security Conference is underway at the APEC Haus in Port Moresby.

Director of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Civil Aviation Safety Authority [CASA] PNG, Benedict Oraka said this conference is critical for the Aviation industry in Papua New Guinea.

Mr Oraka said PNG's Aviation Industry is faced by many challenges and addressing it requires broader consultation to meet international standards.

He's confident this conference will trigger more dialogue between stakeholders in the aviation industry, development partners and key players to make the industry sustainable, improve safety and ensure regulatory standards and compliance are adhered to.

"This conference is very important for us to ensure the Aviation industry is sustainable.

"We must cooperate and collaborate to continue provide essential policies to ensure the framework on sustainability continue,"Mr. Oraka said.

Nearly 50 participants are attending the conference with the theme "Building a Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Future in Aviation.

The conference will end on Wednesday.
