Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jnr has blamed the Marape-Rosso government for the current state of the country.
Basil said the challenges and hardship faced by people reflects the lack of wisdom by national government.

He told Bulolo district during Independence that the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister James Marape has no wisdom, compared to the past.

Fiddled with the struggling economy, Basil urged his people to be self-reliant as the government cannot be relied on in its current position.

He said Bulolo has been unable to meet most of its service obligation due to funding issues.

Although the district has lots of development plans, the MP has struggled to obtain necessary funding for implementation.

He said Bulolo is one of the major natural resource hubs and significantly contributes to PNG’s economy but does not have its funding requests prioritized for infrastructure development purposes.

Basil said the bad road condition of the Lae-Bulolo highway was an example of this ignorance.

The first-time parliamentarian noted that one of the setbacks to service delivery was the lack of proper policy to guide the Infrastructure Development Grant [IDG].

He said this has caused difficulty in distribution of grant to service providers.

Despite those challenges, Basil assured to continue working with its District Development Authority to deliver the basic services that will benefit the people.

The opposition member commemorated Independence Day in his district and took time to visit several sectors of education, business, and recreational establishments in the district.
