ABG and the National Government to decide on moderator for ratification process

Attorney General and Justice and Independence Mission Implementation Minister in the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Ezekiel Massat says a moderator to help the ABG and the National Government resolve an impasse over the voting majority required in the ratification process will soon be appointed.
In an interview with NBC News, Mr. Massat said a pool of potential candidates is already being lined up for screening by Bougainville Affairs Minister Manasseh Makiba and himself.
“For me and Minister Makiba, we'll go through the display list now, select him now, who's up by moderator. By the end of next week, we probably have settled on the name.
“Hopefully that will now move things forward in terms of the ratification issue. We got one candidate to come to America. We probably got the other nine or ten candidates from the Pacific Asia region,” Minister Massat said.

Massat further said the autonomous Bougainville government prefers not just any candidate but someone who is well-versed with the Bougainville history and agenda.
Meanwhile the Bougainville Constitutional Planning Commission opened its consultation with Bougainvillian residents of New Ireland Province in Kavieng on Monday this week.
The New Ireland consultation is part of the overall NGI consultation which has already covered East and West New Britain provinces inthe last three weeks and Manus Province previously.
“The New Ireland consultation will conclude the NGI tour. Consultation opened at the Fisheries College on Monday and moved down to Namatanai district today, commissioners of the BCPC will also consult with people on Lihir Island,” Massat said.
The Kavieng consultation raised opinions on a system of governance recognizing custom to be part of the laws of Bougainville, land and environment resources, and ownership and law and order.
The Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Bougainville Constitutional Planning Commission, Ezekiel Massat is so far content with the progress of the commission's consultation.
