CHS Strategic Plan launched to enhance quality assurance in rural health services delivery

The Christian Health Services in Papua New Guinea is currently hosting its 54th Annual General Meeting in Port Moresby, with over 500 participants in attendance.
A significant achievement observed during the event is the launch of the strategic plan and the Service Level Agreement with Provincial Health Authorities.
There were discussions on notable achievements in public and curative health, as well as administrative and capacity building.
The significant highlight of the AGM was the launch of the CHS's 2025-2036 Strategic Plan and the Service Level Agreement by the East Sepik Provincial Health Authority and the Milne Bay PHA with CHS in the province.
Brot für die Welt, a globally active development and relief agency of the Protestant Churches in Germany, provided funding support for the strategic plan. The Regional Director, Tania Cherwinski, cut the ribbon during the launch.
"Christian Health Services plays a crucial role in delivering rural health services, and we recognized that the strategic plan was an important missing component. We came on board to support, and I am grateful that we launched it today," Cherwinski said.
Japalis Kaiok, the Chairman of CHS, mentioned that the Strategic plan aligns with the Government's national health plans and aspirations. He highlighted that the plan would focus more on public health awareness to inform people in rural areas effectively and help them take responsibility for their health.
The plan will also focus on training schools and curative health.
Meanwhile, Ulch Tapia, the Chief Executive Officer of CHS, emphasized that the Strategic plan would serve as a guide for effective rural health services delivery.
He acknowledged that there are challenges ahead, requiring more effort and collaboration to enhance quality assurance in their services.
