The training for the enumerators entered its third and last phase in Dauli village on Tuesday within the Hulia LLG of Komo Hulia electorate, Hela Province.

The official commencement of the training session was done by the local Member of Parliament, Daniel Tindipu.

The presence of Mr. Tindipu on the initial day of training was highly significant for the enumerators, supervisors, and trainers. He emphasized the vital importance of this training in preparation for the 2024 national census, underscoring the need to maintain high standards of data accuracy and precision.

In a show of support, the MP announced a K100,000 funding allocation for the four LLGs within the district. "This financial assistance supplements existing contributions from the national and provincial governments, ensuring a successful training program and accurate population count."

"I urge all LLG managers and ward councilors in the four LLGs to promptly draft ward development plans," he said.

Mr. Tindipu disclosed that the district development authority [DDA] would soon provide K200,000 to each of the 56 wards.

This directive emphasizes the importance of having plans ready to facilitate the prompt release of these funds.

Moreover, he addressed the accessibility challenge in Mt Sisa LLG, reachable only by air.

"To tackle this issue, the district development authority will engage Missionary Aviation Fellowship [MAF] to transport the necessary census materials," Mr Tindipu said.

Recognizing the paramount importance of the National Census, the DDA will cover all associated transportation costs.
