Enumerators training for Hela province starts today

After a week of conducting a nationwide census, there are still some provinces that have not yet started. Hela province is one of the few provinces that have yet to begin training their enumerators.
Hela province received their kits and other necessary equipment last week. Starting today, the trainers from the Local Level Governments (LLG) will begin reaching out to the existing 14 local level governments, including 4 new LLGs, to initiate the training for the enumerators in their respective wards.
According to Provincial Census Coordinator Danny Kujai, the training of the enumerators was delayed due to transportation issues with the materials. However, as of yesterday, the field gear and census materials have been distributed to them in Tari, the province's capital, in order to carry out the enumeration training.
Mr. Kujai says training will start today and is expected to be completed within three days. Once the training is finished, the counting process will proceed.
“This is a very important activity in the province, and I would encourage everyone to cooperate in this very important exercise and we expect this to be completed in the next three days,” Mr Kujai said.
In the meantime, Andaja Jeli, the Lord Mayor of Tari Town, emphasized that the Census team in Hela is fully prepared to undertake this important responsibility and urged the people to cooperate.
Mr. Jeli highlighted that this will mark the inaugural population count conducted solely by Hela Province since its establishment as a separate province from Southern Highlands Province in 2011.
