NBC West New Britain has received a funding boost of K300,000, thanks to Governor Sasindran Muthuvel.

In a low key ceremony this morning Governor Muthuvel handed over the cheque to ICT Minister Timothy Masiu. Those in attendance included NBC Board Chairman Ian Tarutia, NBC Managing Director Kora Nou, and staff of the NBC HQ in Port Moresby.

Minister Masiu praised Governor Muthuvel for his continued support to NBC as per the Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] signed by his predecessor Francis Maneke.

The MoU has enabled the WNB provincial government to provide significant assistance in various operational aspects, including a Kilowatt Medium Wave (MW) transmitter valued at over K500,000, as well as budgetary support for repairs and maintenance of the provincial radio Director’s house amounting to K200,000, and a new Toyota Land Cruiser worth K230,000.

“Our country needs to be informed to make good decisions and it is my firm belief that NBC network is the critical avenue to relay positive developmental news and information.

“I continue to maintain that lack of proper and positive has resulted in the attitude and behavior concerns of our people and provincial governments need to seriously look into supporting provincial radio stations so the right information can be disseminated to transform the minds of people.

“Today is a fine example of what the provincial government must do to support our provincial radio stations,” Mr Masiu said.

The NBC Board Chairman, Ian Tauritia, expressed his gratitude to the WNB Provincial government for their ongoing assistance with the provincial radio station.

The Governor of the province said "We appreciate the support and anticipate working together to advance developmental initiatives that will keep the public well-informed".

This support will not only strengthen the relationship between NBC and the WNB provincial government but also contribute to the province's development by sharing information.
