Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, following the decision of the Private Business Committee [PBS].

The Committee met at midday and found technical errors in requirement 5, which saw 6 out of 12 names being defective including the Middle Fly MP Maso Hewabi - whose surname was first followed by the given name as per the election writ.

The decision did not go down well with members , especially the Opposition , questioning the decision of the Committee.

Speaker Pomat who tried numerous times to control the House had to overturn the PBC'S decision and instead resorted for the members to take a vote on whether the motion of no confidence should be listed in the notice paper.

Prime Minister James Marape called for dissent on the ruling made by Speaker Pomat, seconded by Rigo MP Sir Ano Pala.

Parliament then took a vote on whether the notice of motion of vote of no confidence should be on the Thursday notice paper.

The vote was overwhelmingly in the government's favor, 69 for and nil against, after the Opposition walked out of the chamber in protest.

The Speaker said he will be seeking the court's interpretation, before parliament adjourned to September 3rd.
