The Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates, Emmanuel Pok, has emphasized that his office does not involve itself in internal party matters.

He addressed the issue of disinformation on social media regarding the appointment of Finchafen MP, Renbo Paita, as the alternate Prime Minister, stating that it is the Pangu Party Council's responsibility to determine such matters.

With the upcoming vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister, there is an increase in false information circulating on social media, causing unnecessary anxiety and panic.

Mr. Pok has condemned the actions of social media spin-doctors who are exploiting the political situation to spread fake news.

"The fake news that has gone around referencing me and the Registry of Political Parties telling Renbo Paita and the 12 Members who defected to formally resign is fake " Mr Pok said today [Tuesday].

He firmly stated that his office respects the decisions made by Party councils and elected leaders to defect from the Government, as it is their right according to Section 50 of the Constitution.

"The elected leaders have exercised their own right as members of Parliament. The Constitution has upheld that, and the Supreme court has made a decision according to that line of thinking, so the organic law does not apply in this situation, " Mr Pok added

However, he mentioned that his office is yet to receive a formal notice regarding any such moves.
