Preparation for Census in West New Britain continues

Census officials in the West New Britain province have received instructions to minimize all costs associated with the national population census program.
The provincial government has provided 500 thousand kina to support the census and preparations in the province, while the National Statistical Office has yet to fulfill its commitment to provide funds.
Minister Richard Masere announced that out of the total 153 million kina allocated for the census, 80 million has already been disbursed, with an additional 30 million to be given this week and the remaining 43 million to be provided once the census begins.
In West New Britain Province, preparations for the National Population and Housing Census are ongoing, with training workshops being conducted for Census Supervisors and Local Level Government Census Coordinators.
Two workshops are currently taking place in Kimbe Town, one for Census trainers and another for LLG Census Coordinators.
Census Supervisors are attending the Census Trainers Workshop to gain the necessary knowledge to train enumerators in their respective LLGs, while LLG Census Coordinators are being trained on how to manage the Census operations in their respective LLGs.
