PNGAAA Milne Bay chapter books help continues
More books have arrived in Alotau for schools that need them in Milne Bay, an initiative of the PNG Australia Alumni Awards Milne Bay Chapter.
The books are this time, destined for select schools in Kiriwina and Esa' ala.
It’s the third stock of books the PNG Milne Bay Chapter and its partners have worked together to bring in, the largest one by far.

279 cartons containing reading material and textbooks donated by partner and Brisbane-based Books4PNG Kids association, is destined for schools in Esa’ala District's West Fergusson LLG and Kiriwina-Goodenough District's Kiriwina LLG.
"We have books coming from 'Books for PNG kids' and we have this ongoing program since last year or the year before, but we've been bringing in books, but this is the first with a big number, "Ms. Tina Mark from the AAA PNG Milne Bay chapter said.
They were also very thankful to the PNG Defense Force who had stepped in to assist them get the books from Port Moresby to Alotau, HMPNGS Cape Gloucester did a detour quick stop in Alotau specifically for this purpose before setting sail for Manus.

This time around, the PNGAAA Milne Bay Chapter is also teaming up with the local Provincial Library to solidify on ground partnerships and they were also there to assist in the unloading.
"Because of the geographical locations of the schools, it's very difficult to reach out to all the rural schools in Milne Bay.
"So, we are taking on private public partnership with organisations, stakeholder, friends and companies who come in to pool the resources together in terms of funds, books, transport and computers to roll out to schools in the province where the need is" Mary Tokanoiya the provincial librarian said.
The books are destined for Kiriwina schools in the Kiriwina-Goodenough District and West Fergusson schools in the Esa’ala District.
