Police Commissioner David Manning has issued a warning to criminals following an increase in armed robberies in the nation’s capital in the last three days.

With all eyes on the National Parliament at Waigani, the country’s police boss said the joint security personnel from the Royal PNG Constabulary and PNG Defence Force are on a full city-wide security operation in anticipation of the Opposition talks of moving a motion of no-confidence vote against Prime Minister James Marape.

Mr Manning warned “with an increased security presence any criminal activity in the city will be swiftly neutralized [as] police operations have been enhanced to discourage illegal or criminal activities.”

He added that police presence and response to crime will be swift in the city over the next ten days and criminals must think about their lives before committing any crime.

The Police Commissioner further appeal to Port Moresby residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
