Voting delayed till Monday for Sohe by-election

Polling for Sohe open by-election in Northern has been delayed from Saturday to Monday, this is due to administrative issues.
The Provincial election manager Daisy Hombogani today said most polling teams including police officials have already been deployed to the polling venues.
The polling teams are expected to poll for a maximum five days and return to the provincial capital Popondetta by the end of next week.
The polling officials and their presiding officers including police personnel have been told to deliver the polling process for Sohe open by-election basing on the time frame schedule by the PNG electoral commission.

Additional police personnel have also been flown into Northern Province for security reasons.
Southern Region Chief Superintendent Joe Puri says he wants to see a smooth transition of the court ordered by election.
Chief Superintendent Puri has cautioned locals that the police will be out in full force to ensure voters take part in the by-election and comply with all election laws during the five days of voting.
Chinese community help police personnel with food rations

Meantime, the Chinese community in the Northern Province have come good with food rations for the Port Moresby based policemen.
Daivd Lin the Chinese community president said this is not the first time they have stepped in to assist the police department with food rations, they have been doing this over the years.
