Daru local charged and detained for conspiring to human trafficking

Two African men from Senegal and their local accomplice from Daru were intercepted by PNG Immigration and the Transnational crime unit over the weekend at a settlement in Daru, Western Province.
The trio flew into Daru on Sunday with the intention to travel to Australia the same afternoon when they were rounded up by PNG immigration officials with the help of police working on a tip off.
Daru Immigration Manager, Enrique Naimo told NBC Online that when interviewed the two Senegalese men said they came to Daru on a sight-seeing visit.
Two weeks ago, two African men, also Senegalese were caught in Daru and gave the same reason.
Mr Naimo says Daru is not a tourist destination and for the men to travel all the way from Senegal in Africa to Daru just for sight-seeing is questionable.
The two Africans were sent back to Port Moresby on Monday, while the local man has been arrested and charged for Conspiring to Human Trafficking.
He's being detained at Daru police station cell awaiting his court appearance.
