PNG Air operations impacted by fuel shortage

PNG Air has reduced its RPT schedule due to the stop fuel supply notice by PUMA, impacting its daily operations in the airline industry.
PNG Air in a media statement informed that PUMA is no longer supplying fuel directly.
PNG Air is unable to access fuel in any port around the country as Pacific Energy is only providing reduced level of fuel in Port Moresby.
The situation has impacted PNG Air’s schedule integrity with no optics on an end date to the fuel crisis.
“We have now been forced to drop our RPT schedules to reflect significantly reduced fuel availability,” the company said.
“This is a direct consequence of PUMA’s decision to withdraw supply.”
Operational safety remains a priority during this crisis and PNG Air will schedule flights depending on the availability of fuel.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national interest by continuing to service resource center operations through its Simberi and Lihir networks.
During this time PNG Air will not be responsible for accommodating disrupted passengers as limited fuel allocation throughout the network places safety constraints and limits its ability to operate to published schedules.
Refunds will not possible at this time however impacted customers will be rebooked. PNG Air stated that passengers will be updated continually regarding their flights.
“Our Call Centre team will be in contact with customers who have purchased tickets for travel who could be affected by this announcement,”
“Updates regarding flights will also be posted via our social media platforms.
“PNG Air sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding during this time.
