In a space of seven days, the National Parliament Private Members Committee will reconvene to deliberate on all requirements on the notice submitted by the Opposition to move a motion of No Confidence Vote against Prime Minister James Marape.

Today, the committee comprising all members of the ruling Pangu Party will sit when Parliament adjourns, because the committee sits only on Wednesday’s when parliament is in session.

The Committee is made up of five provincial members [previously referred to as Governors], Philip Undialu [Hela], William Powi [SHP] Charlie Benjamin [Manus], Taboi Awi Yoto [Western] and Chris Haiveta [Gulf].

On Wednesday 14th February, the first motion submitted for the committee’s deliberation was found to have default, with the title of the Opposition nominee of Prime Minister, Alan Bird, and was resubmitted the same day.

The outcome of the committee deliberation on the motion will be made known to parliament by the office of the speaker when it sits tomorrow.

Prime Minister James Marape assured the country his government will not "runaway" or “gag” the motion of no confidence notice resubmitted to the office of the Parliament Speaker, despite flexing its numerical strength with 84 members of parliament when taking a vote of confidence in his leadership on Thursday 15th February and Attorney General Pila Niningi’s Supreme Court Reference for interpretation of the laws governing the election of the prime minister.
