Long overdue financial reports presented by Fly River Provincial Government

Fly River Provincial Government is the first in the Southern Region to furnish all its reports on public funds used in the last term of Parliament, after four years of delay.
With the Ombudsman Commission, now on the back of all members of Parliament to acquit and comply with the Public Finance Management Act, the provincial government admits the delay is long overdue.
Feeling the heat from the Ombudsman Commission, Western Provincial Member Taboi Awi Yoto knows the importance of reporting on public funds to the Department of Implementation & Rural Development [DIRD].
The second term Member of Parliament said the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, was one of the delay factors, and the financial reports submission, now completes the full acquittals of all funds spent in his first term as member of parliament.
The Public Service Improvement Program funds were for the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
DIRD secretary Aihi Vaki said the department will go through the PSIP financial reports to check for any discrepancy.
He echoed the “importance of compliance” and challenged the provincial government not to delay in submitting their financial reports.
Provincial Administrator, Robert Alphonse Kaiyun said funds spent was in line with the province’s five-year plan in health, education, economic empowerment, agri-business and infrastructure development.
