Education Department announces top performing schools in the country

Results for this year’s national examinations for Grades ten, twelve and Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM program were officially announced by the Department of Education on Friday.

Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra says the Department used the Mean Rating Index to identify the top performing schools in the country.

When announcing the results at the Port Moresby School of Excellence, Dr Kombra also revealed five top performing grade ten system and private schools; Pitipias High School in Enga, Cameron Secondary in Milne Bay, Mount Hagen Secondary in Western Highlands, Marianville and Charles Lwanga Secondary Schools both in Port Moresby.

The top five private schools in the country who performed well this year include Kopkop College in Port Moresby, Kimbe International, OLSH International, New Ireland Province, St Joseph International Catholic College and PNG Paradise Secondary school.

The top grade twelve performing schools this year include; Highlands Lutheran International-Enga, OLSH International-New Ireland Province, St Joseph International Catholic College, Hargy International in West New Britain and PNG Paradise secondary,

The STEM results from the six National Schools of excellence; Wawin, Aiyura. Port Moresby, Passam, Keravat, and Sogeri were also announced, Sogeri taking the lead in high academic performance.

The three top performing students from each subject in grade 10, 12 and STEM program for the first time will receive award recognition from the Department and the performing schools will receive certificates.

The final results have been put up on the Education Department website for public to access.
