‎El Nino to cause rural-urban migration

‎The predicted onset of El Nino may lead to urban migration and social issues in the island communities of Lousiade in Samarai-Murua as the dry spell prolongs.

As the prolonged dry spell continues, families in rural island communities in the Lousiade local level government may be forced to leave their homes and migrate to urban areas in search of food, water and better living conditions.

‎Lousiade LLG president Solomon Paulisbo said he dreads social issues could emerge once the full impact of the El Nino sets in Milne Bay.
