Nui Wei bus sponsors Lae youths for Snax 9s
A Lae-based businessman and owner of Nui Wei Bus Service has sponsored a team of unemployed youths from Lae to compete in the upcoming Mt Hagen Snax 9s rugby league tournament.
The sponsorship will give the youths an opportunity to participate in organised sport and represent Lae at the tournament in Western Highlands Province.
Lae Snax 9s Tournament organising committee chairman James Meninga said the sponsorship was a positive step towards encouraging young people to become involved in sports.
Meninga, who is also chairman of the Western Highlands Schools Rugby League, welcomed Nui Wei Bus Service to the tournament and acknowledged the businessman's support for youth participation.
The Mt Hagen Snax 9s tournament brings together rugby league teams and provides players with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a competitive environment.
For the sponsored Lae team, the competition will be an opportunity to gain experience, build discipline and test themselves against other teams.
The sponsorship also highlights the role local businesses can play in supporting youth development and creating opportunities for young people through sport.
The Lae Snax 9s organising committee has encouraged other businesses in Lae and the Highlands to support similar initiatives that help young people participate in organised sporting activities.
The team is expected to travel to Mt Hagen to compete in the upcoming Snax 9s tournament.
