As part of the agreement, PNG LNG Project is also recognized as a major partner of PNG Chiefs Pathways Program, connecting school engagement, talent development, education and future employment pathways.
This follows after the signing was made official between PNG Chiefs CEO Lorna McPherson said EMPNG Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Sivasamboo at Exxon Mobil Haus in Port Moresby.
“ExxonMobil PNG and the PNG LNG Project are proud to join as the exclusive project sponsor of the PNG Chiefs and as a major partner of their pathways program” said Sivasamboo.
“The PNG Chiefs are more than just a team. They are a core part of the national vision for a unified and prosperous PNG, and it is truly inspiring to stand alongside the PNG Chiefs in the build-up to their NRL start in 2028.”
Meanwhile McPherson said, “PNG LNG has long supported rugby league here in PNG as a platform for youth to build a brighter journey in life.”
“This sponsorship will help the PNG Chiefs not only on the field, but also in our efforts to motivate and inspire future generations to be the best they can be,” she added.
The PNG LNG Project will leverage its existing education and other community investment programs to support the PNG Chiefs outreach and engagement with youths from across PNG.
This commitment reflects the shared vision of the PNG LNG Project participants, ExxonMobil PNG and co-venturers Santos, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, Eneos Xplora, and Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) working together to support initiatives that help further PNG’s development aspirations and improve the lives of its people.
