The 2026 Women's National Conference Soccer League (WNCSL) season will reach its exciting conclusion this Saturday at the PNG Football Stadium, with defending champions PNG Hekari FC set to face Mommers FC in what promises to be a captivating Grand Final.

The championship match was confirmed following Wednesday's semi-final encounters, where Hekari FC produced a dominant performance to defeat MadWest FC 12-0.

Mommers FC secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Bara FC in Lae to book their place in the season decider.

For Mommers FC, Saturday's Grand Final represents a landmark achievement in the club's history.

After several seasons of consistent performances among PNG’s elite women's clubs, the Highlands-based side has earned its first-ever appearance in a WNCSL Grand Final.

Having finished third in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Mommers FC has steadily developed into one of the competition's strongest contenders.

Their progression to this year's final reflects years of dedication, commitment, and continuous improvement from players, coaches, administrators, and supporters who have contributed to the club's growth.

A victory on Saturday would not only secure Mommers FC's maiden WNCSL title but would also mark a significant milestone for women's football in the Highlands region, demonstrating the continued growth and competitiveness of clubs throughout the country.

Standing in their way are the reigning champions, PNG Hekari FC, a club synonymous with success in women's football.

Hekari once again showcased their championship credentials in the semi-finals with an emphatic 12-0 win over MadWest FC, highlighting the quality, depth, and experience that has established them as one of the region's premier women's football teams.

As defending champions, Hekari FC will be determined to retain their crown and add another national title to their impressive record.

Their experience in high-pressure matches and winning culture make them formidable opponents, setting the stage for an intriguing battle against an ambitious Mommers FC side eager to create history.

The 2026 WNCSL Grand Final presents a compelling contrast of narratives: one team seeking to continue its dominance of the national competition, and another striving to capture its first championship in its maiden Grand Final appearance.

PNGFA President John Kapi Natto acknowledged the significance of the occasion and commended all participating clubs for their contribution to the success of the competition.

"The WNCSL continues to play a critical role in the development of women's football in Papua New Guinea. We congratulate Hekari FC and Mommers FC on reaching the Grand Final and commend all participating clubs for their commitment throughout the season.

This weekend's finals are a celebration of the remarkable progress being made in women's football, and we encourage supporters and football fans to come out and witness what promises to be a memorable day."

Prior to the Grand Final, Bara FC and MadWest FC will contest the Third-Place Playoff, providing both clubs with an opportunity to conclude their campaigns on a positive note and secure a place on the podium.

The Women's National Conference Soccer League remains the country's premier women's football competition and continues to provide an important pathway for elite female footballers, while contributing significantly to player development, talent identification, and the growth of the women's game nationwide.

The Papua New Guinea Football Association extends its appreciation to all participating clubs, players, coaches, match officials, volunteers, sponsors, media partners, and supporters whose efforts have contributed to another successful WNCSL season.

Football supporters are encouraged to attend the PNG Football Stadium on Saturday and celebrate the achievements of women's football while supporting the athletes competing in the final matches of the season.
