Taylor Pacific Group joins PNG Chiefs as major partner
The PNG Chiefs have welcomed Taylor Pacific Group as a Major Partner of the club following official announcement yesterday.
This deal will see one of Papua New Guinea’s leading home- grown business groups feature on the sternum of the club’s inaugural NRL jersey.
The sternum positioning is part of a long-term partnership for Taylor Pacific Group with the PNG Chiefs, which will connect the group’s portfolio of consumer brands with supporters across PNG in the club’s foundation and pre-NRL periods, before continuing across the club’s first four NRL seasons from 2028 to 2031.
Taylor Pacific Group is a diversified Papua New Guinean business group with operations spanning food production, manufacturing and retail through well-known brands including Hugo Canning and its iconic Ox & Palm corned beef and Ocean Blue seafood brands, as well as Stiepel Fresh Poultry, Ilimo Dairy, 9-Mile Farm, Pacifika Smokehaus and Stop & Shop Supermarkets.
PNG Chiefs CEO Lorna McPherson said the club was proud to partner with an established and powerful Papua New Guinean business group.
“We are building the PNG Chiefs as a club for all of Papua New Guinea, and it’s incredibly important that Papua New Guinean businesses like Taylor Pacific is at the heart of that journey with us,” McPherson said.
“Taylor Pacific is deeply embedded in the everyday lives of our community, and their businesses reach households and people right across the country.
“That makes this partnership incredibly exciting because it gives us an opportunity to connect the PNG Chiefs with supporters in a real and consistent way. Through its incredible portfolio of brands, their national reach and our ever-growing supporter base, we can create experiences that go well beyond what happens out on the field.
“To have Taylor Pacific partner with us and to have their logo on our jersey when the PNG Chiefs take to the field in the NRL – that is a powerful statement about the confidence Papua New Guinean businesses have in this club and what it can mean for our country.
“We’re very proud to have John, Jeremy and the entire team on board with us and we look forward to continuing to build something special together for Papua New Guinea.”
Taylor Pacific Owner and Managing Director John Taylor said the partnership with the PNG Chiefs reflects a shared commitment to family, integrity and success in the country and beyond.
“Taylor Pacific is a Papua New Guinean business that feeds PNG families every day, so there is a perfect fit in standing behind a club that will unite the country every week,” Taylor said.
“We did not have to think hard about having the Taylor Pacific name on the first PNG NRL team jersey, and we feel that the jersey and the club share similar aspirations as the Taylor Pacific family, with both organisations striving to succeed both in PNG and abroad.
“Taylor Pacific is a family business, built on the values of honesty, hard work, family and integrity, and we see that same sense of family, spirit and determination in the PNG Chiefs. We are in this for the long-term and intend to make this partnership count off the field as much as we all want to help deliver success on it.”
The PNG Chiefs are pleased to officially welcome Taylor Pacific Group to the club and will make further sponsorship announcements in the coming weeks as it continues to build towards the reveal of its official logo and inaugural jersey on October 21.
