London Broncos finish on high
London Broncos completed their 2026 season as champions of the Betfred Championship after defeating Doncaster 78-6 in the grand final.
The 72-point victory also went down as the biggest ever grand final winning margin in the history of the championship, adding to the accolades achieved by the club this year, including winning the League Leaders’ Shield and the 1895 Cup.
Crossing the try line 14 times, it was one way traffic from the get go for the Jason Demetriou-coached outfit, with tries from Jimmy Meadows (8, 16), Dean Hawkins (12), Neil Tchamambe (26, 46), Robert Mathias (33), Elliot Wallis (37, 69), Savili Havili (40), Brandon Webster-Mansfield (42, 50), Connor O’Beirne (53), Gairo Voro (66) and Emarly Bitungane (75).
For the goal kicking, Jimmy Meadows kicked 6 from 9, Dean Hawkins kicked 0 from 1, Gairo Voro had a perfect 4 from 4 while Perth Bears bound Luke Smith kicked 1 from 1 right on full time.
The lone try from Doncaster in the second half came from Luis Johnson with Conor Robinson adding the extras to avoid the egg.
The grand final win brings London’s total number of major titles to six across their 46 seasons, including their periods as Fulham, Fulham Bears, London Crusaders, London Broncos and Harlequins RL.
Their previous titles were the 1982–83 Division Two Championship, the 2018 Million Pound Game and the 2023 Million Pound Game.
The Broncos also finished the season averaging more than 60 points per game across 34 matches.
Coach Jason Demetriou described the 2026 season as remarkable with the club achieving various milestones.
London Broncos Co-Owner Darren Lockyer said the achievements in 2026 reflects on the amount of hardwork put in by many behind the scenes.
