Miss Bird of Paradise pageant Northern province- set for November
Prominent young women in Northern Province are gearing up to host the first of its kind Miss Bird of Paradise Northern Province Pageant in November 2026.
Deputy Chairlady of Miss MBOP Northern Province 2026, Ms Kewana Inurapa, said the quest is the first of its kind that will be hosted in the province.
Ms Inurapa said six (6) contestants have already been confirmed to participate.
The Organizing Committee of the MBOP Northern Province has started its awareness program to high and secondary schools, including TVET schools in the province.
Ms Inurapa pointed out that the school awareness program is to make known to school-aged women to participate in such upcoming pageants in the future.
"Pageants are events where young women and girls have the opportunity to showcase their beauty and not only that, but the event goes beyond by exposing talents, networking, scholarship programs and employment opportunities," she said.
The upcoming MBOP Northern Province Pageant will be staged in the first week of November 2026.
The six contestants are all university students who will each represent selected LLGs, including Tamata, Higaturu, Tufi, Popondetta Urban, and Kokoda LLG respectively.
Meanwhile, Ms Inurapa said the MBOP Northern Province will be hosting its major Gala Fundraising Dinner in Port Moresby to raise funds towards the event.
She called on Northern people living in Port Moresby to come along and support the fundraising drive.
Ms Inurapa also said the Patron for the MBOP Northern Province 2026 is Northern Governor, Hon. Gary Juffa.
