PNG broadcaster joins Asia-Pacific media visit in China

Foreign journalists from across the Asia-Pacific and Euro-Asia regions are in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China, to explore the country’s advances in science, technology and innovation, and its cooperation with Belt and Road partner countries.

The Asia-Pacific delegation including 24 journalists from 21 countries, including Papua New Guinea’s National Broadcasting Corporation.

Euro-Asia regions are in Chengdu for a four-day media visit focusing on science, technology, innovation and international cooperation.

The program is taking journalists to research institutions, technology companies and innovation facilities under the Chengdu–Chongqing Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Zone.

The visit includes clean-energy research, agricultural biotechnology, biomedical industries, robotics and artificial intelligence, as well as China’s giant panda conservation program.

They will also visit a technology-transfer centre to learn how Chinese science and innovation are being shared with international partners.

The final day will focus on space technology, satellites and solar energy, including smart manufacturing.

The visit is providing international media with an opportunity to observe China’s scientific and technological development and consider its relevance to development in their own countries.
