Landowners must resolve issues: Marape

Prime Minister James Marape has appealed to landowners of the Papua LNG gas development to resolve any issues among themselves before the launch of the Final Investment Decision [FID] in November of this year.

Speaking at Government House last Thursday, the Prime Minister appealed to landowners of the Papua LNG gas development, from Central and Gulf provinces, to work with leaders in their respective provinces as well as the minister for Petroleum, Jimmy Maladina, to resolve any disagreements that they may have.

“The Government must secure agreements to allow project operators to announce the Final Investment Decision [FID] and raise funding to deliver Papua LNG,” he said.

Marape said the construction of the project will commence following the successful delivery of the FID from the project operators.

According to Prime Minister, the Government also successfully negotiated with the Japanese Crude Cocktail to reduce the 9% price of gas sale to 5%.
