Teachers warned of fake TSC officers on Facebook

The Teaching Service Commission [TSC] has warned teachers, especially recent graduates and those in very remote locations, not to be fooled by scammers operating on social media platforms like Facebook.

TSC Acting Chairman Maini Mike Ugaia issued the warning following reports that fraudsters are tricking teachers into paying fake “legal service fees” to secure employment.

Ugaia clarified that the Commission does not charge any fees for its services, stating that there is no such thing as a legal service fee or administrative charge within the TSC and the Education Department.

The Commission is aware of a fraudulent Facebook profile operating under the name Guina Robin, which has been falsely claiming to be a TSC officer and misleading teachers.

To prevent further exploitation, the TSC is advising all teachers to avoid conducting official business on social media.

Teachers are also reminded that Commission officers are stationed on the ground in every province.

Teachers with employment queries or paperwork issues are urged to visit their local provincial education office to speak with genuine staff face-to-face.

The public and the teaching fraternity are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or payment demands to the police or the TSC head office.
