Enga peace & unity games ends commemorating PNGs 51st Independence

The Enga Peace and Unity Games that began on Monday this week in Wabag came to a celebratory end on Wednesday, commemorating Papua New Guinea's 51st Independence celebrations along with the rest of the country.

The games coordinated by the Enga Provincial Sports Office targeted youths in the province using sports to promote peace and reduce law and order issues.

The Peace and Unity games were also a platform to pick players for Team Enga for the upcoming PNG games.

Winning teams from both male and female categories playing in the six respective sporting codes of soccer, basketball, volleyball, kickboxing, rugby sevens, and rugby nines took home either a trophy or a gold medal, silver medal, or bronze medal, as well as prize money.

The final day of the games which including the presentation of awards was witnessed by the Governor of Enga Province Sir Peter Ipatas and the Provincial Administrator of Enga Sandis Tsaka.

Youths from the other five districts of Enga Province taking part in the Peace and Unity Games will start leaving for their home districts on Friday.
