Works Dept opens K7.8m Mirisim Haus

The Department of Works and Highways has officially opened its new K7.8 million office building, naming it Mirisim Haus in honour of former minister, the late Solan Mirisim.

Located at the department's headquarters in Port Moresby, the facility was funded by the Asian Development Bank and constructed by China Wu Yi.

Department of Works and Highways Secretary Gibson Holemba said the new building is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency and service delivery, particularly in executing major national infrastructure programs such as the flagship Connect PNG project.

Holemba also urged staff to take ownership of the new facility and maintain the improved working environment.

Officiating at the opening ceremony, Works and Highways Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jnr said naming the building Mirisim Haus was a fitting tribute to the late minister's legacy.

He said the gesture reflects the department's ongoing progress while recognizing Mirisim's valuable contributions to the country's road infrastructure sector.
