Chief supt. Beli assumes command of Eastern Highlands police

Residents of Eastern Highlands Province turned out in large numbers on Monday to welcome incoming Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Albert Beli.

Police officers staged a ceremonial parade along the main thoroughfare outside the police station in the heart of Goroka town, drawing a massive crowd of locals who gathered to witness the handover.

Addressing the officers and the public, Chief Supt. Beli expressed gratitude for his appointment and pledged to prioritize law and order across the province.

"We have a duty to perform, and we must work with pride, standing tall and strong for the people of this province and the country as a whole," Beli said.

He urged police personnel to maintain professional standards, asking them to continue working cohesively and serving the community with respect.

Beli also appealed directly to the public for cooperation, emphasizing that community partnership is vital for crime prevention and public safety.

"Together, with the support of the community, we can create a safe and peaceful environment for everyone to live in," he said.
