Call for peace at Koroba secondary school ahead of national examinations

Teachers and students of Koroba Secondary have been called on to reconcile, forgive one another and unite in restoring peace at the school ahead of the Grade 10 and 12 National Examinations next month.

Hela Provincial Administrator Ronny Angu urged the students when he visited the school on Monday, 31st August to address a recent student strike and concerns raised by the school community.

As part of efforts to support the reconciliation process, Angu presented K10,000 to the school to prepare a special meal for students and teachers to share after the reconciliation ceremony.

“Students are our future. We cannot allow them to sit for their examinations without peace being restored. This reconciliation is important so our children can concentrate on their studies and perform well,” he said.

The PA also announced K40,000 in funding to provide meals for students throughout the examination period.

Meanwhile, the lack of reliable electricity has been identified as another major challenge affecting the school. To address the issue, Angu presented K100,000 to support the purchase of a new generator set.

“Our concern is you, the students. All we want from you is to focus on your education and make us proud by achieving top marks and gaining entry into tertiary institutions,” he said.

School Principal Stanley Langap thanked the Hela Provincial Government for the timely intervention, saying the assistance would help create a stable, peaceful and conducive learning environment for students as they prepare to sit their national examinations.

The school community is now expected to work together to restore harmony and ensure students can approach their examinations with peace of mind and confidence.
