SP Brewery backs Enga cultural show

South Pacific Brewery has backed the upcoming 2026 Enga Cultural Show with a sponsorship of K5,000 to assist the organizers with event preparations.

The annual cultural event, which showcases the rich heritage and traditions of Enga Province, will take place from August 7-9 in Wabag town.

SP Brewery Highlands Region External Affairs Manager Luke Beliga presented the cheque to members of the show committee in Port Moresby on Monday.

Beliga said the brewery was proud to partner with the event, stating its role in fostering local peace, social unity, and tourism growth in the province.

"We believe this event will continue to promote the culture of Enga, foster a safe and peaceful community, and boost tourism in the province," Beliga said.

"The show aligns closely with our purpose of fostering the joy of true togetherness, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help bring communities together while celebrating the diverse cultures that make Papua New Guinea unique."

Enga Cultural Show Committee chairlady Margaret Potane commended SP Brewery for its ongoing support and investment in community cultural preservation.

Potane said the show serves as an important platform for Engan people to celebrate their heritage, including traditional dances, chants, costumes, and unique rituals, while demonstrating resilience against modern influences.

"SP Brewery's sponsorship demonstrates a genuine commitment to preserving our cultural heritage, supporting our people, and strengthening the spirit of unity and togetherness that this show represents," Potane said.

The contribution is part of SP Brewery’s ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts to support community initiatives and preserve local customs across the country.
