The Cassowaries Women maintained their winning momentum in the Boroko Motors ISUZU Women's 50-Over Tournament, claiming a hard-fought six-wicket victory over the Mariners Women at Amini Park yesterday.

Led by a captain’s knock from Player of the Match Brenda Tau, the Cassowaries successfully chased down a target of 183 in the final over of the match to secure their second consecutive win of the competition.

Having won the toss and elected to bat on a firm Amini Park deck, the Mariners posted 182 before being bowled out in 49.3 overs.

The Cassowaries' reply required patience and tactical discipline, with the side eventually reaching 183/4 in 49.2 overs to seal the contest with just four balls to spare.

Tau anchored the top order with a superb 63 off 91 deliveries, striking eight boundaries to lay a solid foundation for the pursuit. Senior batter Tanya Ruma then provided crucial stability through the middle overs, finishing unbeaten on 55 to see her side safely home.

The victory consolidates the Cassowaries' early advantage in the national domestic showpiece as the race for top honours in the ISUZU Women's 50-Over competition heats up.
