A major step towards improving service delivery in Kerowaghi District is now underway following a new partnership between the Kerowaghi District Development Authority and the Department of Community Development and Religion.

The partnership will see the construction of a new office complex aimed at bringing together key government divisions, corporate agencies and community services under one roof.

Kerowaghi MP Francis Kikin Siune said the new building will accommodate district and sector heads, as well as agencies such as banking institutions, identification services, and superannuation offices.

The project is expected to reduce the need for people to travel to Goroka, Mt Hagen and other provincial centres to access basic government and financial services.

Mr Kikin Siune said the initiative will improve access to services, allowing residents to receive assistance in education, finance, and other public services within the district.

The project is also expected to create employment and support economic growth through small-to-medium enterprise programs.

The estimated cost of the building is around K2 million and will be funded in phases.

An initial K500,000 has already been committed to begin construction, while more funding is expected to be secured as the project progresses.

Leaders have described the project as an important step towards decentralising national services and bringing development closer to the people.

The new centre is expected to become one of the district’s major development projects aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting inclusive growth in Kerowaghi District.
