Hela administrator warns absent public servants
Hela Provincial Administrator Ronny Angu has issued a final warning to public servants from Hela who are drawing salaries while living in other provinces and not performing duties.
Mr. Angu delivered the directive during a recent meeting with District Development Authority CEOs and public servants. He reminded officers that they are engaged under the Hela Provincial Administration and must be accountable for attendance and deployment.
“It has come to my attention that some officers are currently outside the province without actively performing their duties in Hela, yet remain on payroll. This practice will be addressed through the ongoing audit, and appropriate action will be taken where necessary,” Mr. Angu said.
He said he had met with Provincial Headquarters staff over the past few weeks, and the PHQ team will extend engagements to all district offices next week.
Mr Angu directed all district administrations to assemble officers, clearly assign duties and responsibilities, enforce daily attendance with proper timesheets, and maintain official working hours from 8:00am to 4:06pm. Professional standards of dress and conduct must be upheld at all times.
“All public servants are to remain at their designated duty stations. No officer is to leave the province for any reason, including training, leave, or medical purposes, without formal written approval from my office,” he said.
DDA CEOs have been instructed to conduct a full staff roll call and submit sectoral and staff status reports.
To improve communication, Mr Angu said each district must establish an official Public Servant WhatsApp Group through which his office will provide updates and directives.
