Kumura urges prudent financial management
Member for Usino-Bundi, Vincent Kumura, has called on the Madang Provincial Government and its Administration to exercise prudent financial management on the 2026 provincial budget.
Kumura expressed this whilst commenting on the K474 million budget that was passed last week by the provincial assembly under the Chairmanship of Governor Ramsey Pariwa.
MP Kumura described Madang’s budget as realistic and practical- one that reflects the real challenges that Madang faces as a province.
“It is not over exaggerated but within the confines of what the province needs,” he said.
Kumura, who was attending the Assembly for the first time since assuming office mid last year as the Member for Usino/ Bundi in a by- election; applauded Governor Pariwa and the Acting Provincial Administrator Daniel Aloi, as well as the budget team for a well- documented budget, but stressed the need for prudent financial management.
Kumura was particularly impressed with the road infrastructures component, which he said captures some very strategic road links in the province, including his own district.
He added that Usino-Bundi will have its own projects launching in the district and will expect the Madang Government to counterpart some of its major infrastructure projects.
For now, Kumura said it is imperative that the governor work closely with all the district MPs in the province, and that together they can raise Madang to the next level.
“There’s a lot of young guns now in the province, especially for Raikos, Usino-Bundi, and the Governor for Madang Province.
"There’s a lot of young generation into the leadership arena also, and so it is interesting to see how the young blokes are taking things head- on and making sure that services are being delivered accordingly.
“The fact that the governor has ears to listen to the people and come down to our level is a good thing.
"We are building a good rapport, and I think it is a good story for Madang moving forward. Together we can build a better Madang,” Kumura said.
