The Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority [WHPHA] has officially opened its 2026 operations year with a dedication service held at the hospital campus this week.

Held under the theme “Reset, Recommit, Dedicate for a New Beginning in the Public Service,” the service brought together healthcare workers, departmental heads and support staff of the Authority to mark the beginning of the new working year.

Director of Nursing Services, Sister Janet Yamu, highlighted the Authority’s achievements, attributing its success to teamwork and commitment from staff.

“The performance we achieved from 2023 to 2024 did not come easily. It came through unity, discipline and teamwork from every level of staff. This is why WHPHA continues to be recognised as one of the top performing Provincial Health Authorities in the country,” Sister Yamu said.

WHPHA Acting Chief Executive Officer [CEO] Jane Holden urged staff to maintain cooperation and unity, reminding them that their main responsibility is to provide patient care with integrity, honesty and commitment.

“Our duty as healthcare workers is first and foremost to our patients. We must serve with integrity, honesty and total commitment so that the people of Western Highlands continue to receive quality healthcare,” Holden said.

Holden applauded the workforce for their dedication, adding that their hard work has helped the Authority maintain consistent top performance among PHAs nationwide.

“Because of your dedication and teamwork, WHPHA has continued to maintain its position as one of the leading PHAs in the country. I thank every one of you for your sacrifice and commitment,” she said.

The Acting CEO also reminded staff to recommit to the WHPHA oath in 2026, which includes loyalty and duty, obedience, integrity, public interest, impartiality, confidentiality and accountability at all times.

“As public servants, we must always uphold our oath, to be loyal, to serve with integrity, to protect public interest and to remain accountable in everything we do,” Holden said.

She emphasized that the continued success of the Authority is the result of collective teamwork and shared responsibility.

The program ended with staff pledging to continue delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Western Highlands Province.
