Security concerns at Boram Correctional Facility continue to mount.

A surprise raid last Friday uncovered dangerous contraband inside the prison compound, raising fresh alarms about deteriorating infrastructure and inmate safety.

During the raid, Correctional Service officers confiscated a number of items hidden within the prison grounds.

Among the finds were two wire catapults, several iron arrows, a tinsnip tool, and mobile phones.

Boram gaol Commander, Superintendent Aaron Menau, says the discovery of these weapons is highly concerning. He warns that such dangerous items highlight the vulnerability of the prison, which is struggling under deteriorating infrastructure.

Superintendent Menau stressed that the current state of the facility poses serious risks, not only for escapees but also for the safety of inmates and officers.

Authorities are now being urged to act swiftly to address the worsening conditions at Boram Correctional Facility before the situation escalates further.
