Three suspects are now in police custody after being arrested in connection with multiple charges, including sea piracy, in Angoram District.

The arrests were made yesterday at Watam Village, which borders Madang and East Sepik Provinces.

During the operation, police confiscated a QC rifle, a homemade firearm, several live rounds of ammunition, and quantities of marijuana.

East Sepik Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Christopher Tamari, commended his officers for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order despite facing manpower and logistical challenges.

“My men have been doing great policing work over recent weeks. Criminals have no place in our society, and police will continue to infiltrate and dismantle criminal elements across East Sepik,” PPC Tamari said.

He acknowledged the role of community leaders and citizens in supporting police operations, emphasizing that collaboration between law enforcement and the public is vital for peace and security in the province.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with police reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding communities across East Sepik.
