Live ammunition and semi factory made guns confiscated by Bulolo police
Bulolo Police have confiscated live ammunition and semi-factory firearms and arrested two suspected gang members during the police festive season operation.
According to the Morobe Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Samson Siguyaro, the arrests were made at about 9pm on December 30, 2025, when police units were deployed on special operations and carried out random checks along the Wau and Bulolo Highways.
During the operation, police officers identified a suspicious group of men near the AOG church in Bulolo, and proceeded to conduct searches which led to the discovery of two semi-factory firearms and live ammunition, in the possession of two youths.
The weapons and ammunition were immediately confiscated and both suspects were arrested and taken to the Bulolo Police Station, where they were formally charged, detained in the holding cells and denied bail.
Police believe the two are members of the “38 Special” gang, that has been operating in the Bulolo and Wau areas.
Chief Superintendent Siguyaro commended the Bulolo Police for tracking down these weapons, describing the operation as an example of effective policing during the festive period.
“I commend the Bulolo Police officers for their professionalism, commitment and the successful execution of this operation despite ongoing challenges,” PPC Siguyaro said.
PPC Siguyaru is also issuing a warning to all the gang members, including those linked to the 38 Special gang to surrender to police, and commit themselves to become law-abiding citizens as the new year begins.
The operation marks the second successful action by Bulolo Police targeting the dismantling of this 38 Special gang, highlighting the effectiveness of police efforts to curb illegal firearms and improve public safety.
