Nurses around the country will not take part in any nationwide stop work.

This is the assurance from the Papua New Guinea Nurses Association.

Association President, Frederick Kebai, made this known when responding to a recent newspaper article.

The article claimed planned strike action by doctors and nurses following the reappointment of Pascoe Kase as the Health Secretary.

Mr. Kebai has assured the general public that what has come out in the media recently and on social media about nurses' participation in the nationwide stop work in 2026 is not true.

He urged nurses to stay with their union and warned that the PNG Nurses Association will not defend anyone who doesn’t.

The PNGNA President also asked people not to spread fake news, saying it only causes unnecessary worry among the public.
