Tapini station in Goilala came to a standstill this morning as provincial and district leaders, public servants, family members, and the public gathered to receive and farewell late Alphonse Moroi, former Governor of Central province, whose casket was flown by chopper.
The farewell occasion was led by Central Province Madam Governor Rufina, Member for Goilala Casmiro Aia, a team of senior public servants from the Central province headquarters, district, and community leaders, reflecting great respect for a man widely regarded as a gentleman, a statesman, and a pillar of leadership in the province.
Late Moroi served two terms in office as Governor of Central province from 2002-2007. He dedicated a decade of his life to public service at a time when leadership in the province demanded resilience, vision and sacrifice.
Throughout his political career, late Moroi remained a strong advocate for rural development, community empowerment and inclusive growth, particularly for districts often challenged by geography and access like Gorilla and other remote areas of Central province.
